New Year, Here's to More Doors Opening

Last week I celebrated my birthday. Last year was hard due to grieving my mother and health challenges presented by Covid-19 diagnosis. In that year, I completed a film production certificate program at Clayton State University. Unfortunately adding that to my schedule meant less time for this site and podcasting. I hope to get a consistent schedule for both this year. The film certificate adds film production to my public history expertise and skill set in truthful storytelling. I am excited to see how my skills grow. One of the documentary shorts I helped produce has been entered into several film festivals including Atlanta's Bronze Lens. I look forward to networking in this new community while continuing to build my practice as a historian. I am currently working on a script for my own documentary. I also look forward to more adventures in the museum and theatre communities.

It’s a great reminder that sometimes we need to clear out the old academic clutter to truly welcome the fresh starts and open doors that the new year brings.
